As one of our four program pillars, the concept of resilience is embedded deeply in Animal Flow. We look at the body’s ability to yield without breaking as a marker of success; a body that can withstand pressure is a body that is truly strong.
And yet resilience, in Animal Flow as in life, is about so much more than just tissue. As humans, our capacity to endure through adversity is not only what allows us to survive, it’s what shapes and expands our lives.
In this keynote session, Mike Fitch shares why resilience may be the number one superpower that Flowists can harness to adapt, adjust and succeed in spite of disruption.

One of the most popular and visually unique AF movements is the Side Kickthrough (SKT). Featuring an Underswitch-style genesis, the SKT opens itself up to countless entry and exit points. But just how many ways are there?
In this Flow session, Kathy D guides you through a range of possibilities using primarily L1 movements, with a few L2 options thrown in, too. Review your options, refresh your memory and gain new ideas for your Flow practice.

Coaches and clients alike can succumb to injuries and while many can seem out of the blue, there is usually a trail of evidence that leads to the peak moment of harm.
Fréyja will share a tiered triage system to improve awareness for the purpose of injury prevention followed by the principles of tissue healing. While the session will focus on the demands and inputs of Animal Flow, you’ll be able to take the principles shared and apply them to other movement styles.

Your legacy is what will remain when you’re gone. What you stand for, how you live, and what you achieve all combine to form your legacy. But how do you define your personal and familial legacy?

The last of Animal Flow’s Six Components, Flow, is arguably the most complete expression of the program.
A well-honed Flow combines body awareness with breath, all while moving energy effortlessly and seamlessly through space.
In this session, MI Paulo takes you on an energy flow journey that helps you experience the true essence of the Flow component.

As the world of exercise science has grown and evolved, so too have the methods being used in scientific literature. Without a background in academia or research, it can be overwhelming to interpret how a research paper may or may not apply to the clients you’re working with.
MI Fréyja will share a framework you can use to objectively read and decipher research papers. Come away with an understanding of how to interpret findings that are relevant to the people you coach.

Animal Flow can be the glue that holds together a range of training styles and physical pursuits. One such perfect partnership is strength training and AF’s Form Specific Stretches.

There’s no one who Flows quite like you. The way you move that arm, that head, that hand all combine to create the unique stylishness you bring to your practice.
But style, or ‘flair’ as it’s known in AF, can only be developed once your body knows the basics, inside and out.

The success of any business is dependent upon attracting people who want to buy what you’re selling. And what makes them want to buy from you? A belief that what you’re offering can solve a problem or fulfil an unmet need or want.
While the benefits of AF are many, its value is determined not by the laundry list of biomotor abilities it can improve but by your customer’s perception of what it can do for them personally. From the ex-dancer to the injury-prone athlete or the busy parent who dislikes the gym, different customers need different approaches.
If the idea of promoting your services feels intimidating or you’re looking for a way to refine your message, join program creator, Mike Fitch. Mike shares the various ways he talks about AF and teaches you the formula he uses to communicate its value.

Consumer buying psychology shows that people typically look for you on 3-5 different platforms before they are ready to buy from you. They’re looking at your social media platform presence, Google reviews, and your website. Many sole proprietors shy away from developing a website due to the high costs that can be involved with hiring a web developer. Yet with the range of easy-to-use tools that are now available, it’s never been more possible to create your own simple but effective website without breaking the bank.
Animal Flow’s web developer, Todd Skoglund, draws on 30 years of experience in web design to get you started on the path to developing your own simple website that can take bookings and accept payments.

The language of Animal Flow has evolved almost continuously over the past decade. As the program grew around the world and new movements were added, the importance of an improved and universally understood language grew, too.
Practicing your ability to interpret and successfully call out the movement instructions is as important as practicing the physical skills of the system.
In this fun and interactive quiz session, Fréyja will test your Call Out knowledge and shed light on the nuances of AF’s unique global language.

iPhone cameras have been setting the bar on smartphones for years. With a touch of the screen or two, you can access features that can transform your photos from blurry amateur-looking shots to beautifully-captured semi-professional images.

Pregnancy is part of life that requires care, nourishment, and movement. And it typically doesn’t have to stop a Flowist from doing what they love!
When applied appropriately, Animal Flow can be a great tool for pregnant and postpartum Flowists. However, very few coaches truly understand the needs and considerations of their pregnant and postpartum clients.
In this session Master Instructor, Kathy Donatto, and Regional Leader, Gabi Bradley, will teach you how to guide your pregnant and postpartum Flowists beyond simply stating “just listen to your body.”

If you’ve been following Animal Flow closely over the past 5 years, it’s likely that you’ve heard Mike Fitch or any number of our Master Instructors talk about Functional Range Systems (FRS), in particular the programs FRC™ and KINSTRETCH™.
As a lifelong learner and student, Mike’s own fascination with the programs saw him engage bodyworker and FRS instructor, Alex Nichols, as his own coach.
In Part 1 of this two-part workshop, Alex delivers a 60-minute introductory KINSTRETCH™ class. You’ll experience how this movement enhancement system can be applied as a comprehensive warm-up and strength training model that has a huge carry-over to movement practices of all kinds.
In Part 2, Alex joins Mike for a discussion of the KINSTRETCH™ training principles; their application for body control, flexibility and usable ranges of motion; and how it all relates to the improvement of your Animal Flow practice. (Part 1)

Quadrupedal movement training has become popular for individuals practicing Martial Arts and Combat Sports (MACS), but knowing which Animal Flow movements are most applicable to MACS training can be confusing for individuals not thoroughly versed in the program. In this session, Regional Leaders Bryan Wither and K Zang explain how they approach incorporating AF into classes for martial artists, and then teach a series of drills that are useful for both grappling and striking styles of MACS.

A regular Animal Flow practice can deliver many varied benefits, not least of which is the development of power. Learning to manoeuvre your body through space powerfully relies on the combination of strength, speed and control.
In this session, MI Jeseung shows how you can combine explosive movements (such as Front Kickthrough) and transitions (such as “jump to” and “pop back to”) to create a power-packed Flow that your body is bound to remember.

Animal Flow is like the bestie you want to take everywhere – they’re great 1-on-1, but also super clutch at that big party you’re not quite sure how to handle on your own. In training terms: Animal flow can be both your primary movement session, as well as your warm-up for any other modality. But how?
As movers and coaches, warm-ups not only prepare our bodies for movement but are also an opportunity to set the tone for the entire session.
In this session, Maddie will break down how to use Animal Flow as a warm-up for both strength and bootcamp classes, as well as for dedicated AF classes. No matter what the modality, Animal Flow has your back.

Figuring out who you are as a business is a fundamental component of any laser-focused brand strategy. Just as important as knowing who you are is knowing who your customers are and what pain points you can solve for them.
In this 2-part session, you’ll learn how to uncover your brand archetype and scope out your ideal customer avatars. Come with your notebook, pen and thinking cap, and leave with a game plan for defining your brand. (Part 1)

The Front Kickthrough category is the source of the most powerful movements from the L1 library. The ‘load to unload’ effect of moving between a Loaded Beast base and the end positions of Front Step, Front Step Through and Front Kickthrough harness the body’s kinetic energy for maximum energy transfer.
In this session, MI Swetha delivers a power-packed choreographed Flow that emphasizes these three movements. If you like your practice a little spicy, be sure to join Swetha for a Flow with extra fire!

Have you activated today? No matter how long you’ve been practicing Animal Flow, Beast and Crab Activations provide the foundation on which the rest of the movements are built. But that doesn’t mean that you should feel limited by their execution and application.
‘On the contrary,’ says MI Chaddy. Join him as he looks at ways to incorporate Activations to build novel resilience and strength into tissue. You’ll learn ideas for adding variety to your current practice and give you a whole new perspective on Activations.

Right and left, forward and backward, diagonals and circles are all commonly explored in Animal Flow design. But what about up and down?
In this session, Dev will teach you a Flow that challenges you to explore positions that navigate high, low and in between. Using Traveling Forms, S&Ts and Form Specific Stretches, you’ll work on your spatial awareness while seamlessly transitioning from one move to another.
At times you’ll have your nose to the floor and at others, your hips to the ceiling. Join Dev for this fun and dynamic Flow experience!

Even when we love to move, we don’t always feel like moving. And that’s ok. One of the magic things about Animal Flow is that it has the capacity to turn its dial of intensity up or down according to what we need.
We know that not every movement always works for everybody. Part of being a coach is about adapting movement to bodies, instead of forcing bodies to adapt to movement. We don’t, however, always give our brains the same latitude.
This session with Master Instructor, Maddie, will look at the ways we can approach movement–not only from the physical but also the mental and emotional. In doing so, we can see that (hopefully) no matter where we or our clients are on a particular day, there is movement available to us.

As the saying goes, ‘If you win the morning, you win the day.’ Regardless of whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, starting your day off with a strong mindset is critical to finding flow as you move through life.
Come and hang out with Michael as he discusses how he uses Animal Flow and other tools, habits and rituals to set up and navigate his day. Share your own rituals and experiences with AF as a tool for personal performance.

Music has the power to move us, both emotionally and physically. The right track can fire you up, bring tears to your eyes, or inspire you to move with abandon.
Almost all cultures in history have brought music and movement together; in some languages, the words for ‘music’ and ‘dance’ are one and the same. So it makes sense that Animal Flow and music go ‘hand-in-glove’.
If the beat moves you and you’re itching to get down (on the ground, that is), join Alisha. Together, you’ll traverse tempo changes, rhythm and motion as you learn a Flow set to music that’s destined to finish with a bang!

In 1901, elastic resistance was used for “Strength for Men, Grace and Beauty for Women, Perfect Development for Children.” We’ve since come a long way, not only in the way it’s marketed but also in the way it’s applied.
Today, elastic resistance is used by athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, physical therapists, and personal trainers alike for its versatility, portability and low cost.
Elastic resistance provides the perfect way to challenge and develop dynamic stability in even the most fundamental of AF movements. In this workshop, Chaddy explores the properties of elastic resistance and how to incorporate it into your AF practice.

Spend an hour with AF’s Director of Marketing, Shannon, and chat about the promotion of Animal Flow. Pick Shannon’s brain about the upcoming International Animal Flow Day, how to get reposted on AF’s official social media accounts, and other general marketing topics. She’ll share tools and tips from her experience leading AF’s marketing strategy and throw open the discussion on what’s working (or not! in your region).

Traveling Crocodile from AF’s L2 movement library is arguably the toughest Traveling Form. With its long levers and circular, open/close pattern, it requires high levels of strength and coordination to perform successfully.
In this Crocodile-focused Flow session, MI Miro shows you how to perfect your Crocodile Crawl and incorporate it into Flows. You’ll look at the differences between Crocodile Roll and Crocodile Crawl and finish with a Flow that showcases them both.

Being a great AF instructor is about more than simply demonstrating the movements and using the Call Out language. It’s about connecting with our participants and making the complex easy and worthwhile.
In this workshop, MI Parveez looks at the 3 C’s of Coaching: Coach, Cue, and Correct. You’ll learn about the pillars of successful coaching and walk away with a range of tips to action in the never-ending quest to become a better coach.

Preparing for your Test Out doesn’t need to be a daunting experience! With resources galore to refer to–from your manual to the AF tutorial videos, instructor Facebook group and more–we want to do everything we can to ensure you feel supported through the process.
Even so, questions can arise and sometimes you just need a friendly nudge and some accountability to step over the line from procrastination to certification.
Come and hang out with Director of Education, Becky, and Master Instructor, Alisha, as they answer all your Test Out questions and provide some tips and tricks for successful submissions.

Not every movement is suitable for every person right away. While the efficacy of quadrupedal movement is gaining more and more scientific support, there are still some people who struggle with the basics due to limitations. Postural distortions, incorrect alignment, and even joint pain can all be roadblocks to the new Flowist progressing on their journey.
However, if you can solve these problems, you’ll be able to help your clients experience a more enjoyable practice. In this session, MI Jeseung focuses on the kinematics of the hip joint, the slings and chains that act upon it, and how to address it from a corrective perspective.

The physical is more than just physical.
Come and hang out with Regional Leader Nikki Rubino and share stories of growth through Animal Flow. Hear from Nikki and others in the community as they talk about how having a deliberate skill practice like AF has influenced their approach to growth in other areas of life.
You’ll have the chance to hear about the struggles they faced as new practitioners, how they overcame those struggles through practice, patience, and dedication, and share your own experiences and insights.

As quadrupedal movement has gained more consumer popularity over the past decade, researchers have begun to bring attention to the field in the scientific community as well.
Animal Flow Master Instructor, Eve Kabanova, is one such researcher. Eve’s recent study on Animal Flow has contributed valuable support to the growing body of evidence that reinforces the program’s benefits. But what does a study actually entail? How is it designed and what measures are developed?
In this behind-the-scenes session, Eve shares the procedures and protocols that underpin the design and execution of scientific research. If you’d like to better understand the process of conducting research or you’re just excited to geek out over the latest findings, don’t miss this lecture!

Animal Flow is fun, cool-looking and packed with benefits for everyone. But sometimes it can be hard to authentically deliver the message of AF while balancing it with the needs of a successful business.

Being the only Flowist in your region can feel intimidating and downright lonely at times. From people not really understanding what it’s about, to being the only ground-based ‘weirdo’ at the gym, being ahead of the curve can be challenging.
Yet, with the right tips and support, it can also be exciting, ground-breaking, and progressive.
Parveez and Eve know what it’s like to introduce AF to a region where almost no one knows of the program. In this session, they’ll cover the things that worked successfully and those that failed miserably, and dive into what it takes to grow a community from the ground up.

The Flowist and the Actor are more similar than you might first think.
Both seek to embody effortless fluidity and physical commitment to their craft.
Both aim to connect to their bodies and those around them in a deep and powerful way. And both understand the importance of preparing their bodies for the demands of the tasks that lay ahead of them.
To the outsider looking in, this preparation may seem alien. But to the Flowist and the Actor, there is a method in the madness.
Join Regional Leader and professional actor, David Scotland, for a fun and interactive session filled with exercises, drills and games used for physical preparation by actors. Take away ideas to integrate into your own movement preparation or to use as a connection tool with your own clients and students.

Sequences and Flow design ideas can strike at the most random moments–in the car, in the shower, and even in your dreams! Yet when it comes time for your hands and feet to hit the floor, it’s not uncommon to find yourself stuck in the same repetitive movements.
Hang out with Kelie and share tips and tricks for getting out of a creative slump and into inspired Flow design.

As one of the most highly moveable joints in your body, the shoulder is a complex structure. By contrast, your spine is responsible for support, motion, force transmission, communication and more.
While there is much they have in common, they’re also vastly different–but what does that mean for your Animal Flow practice?
In this lecture session, Mike Fitch breaks down the anatomy and function of the shoulder and spine and investigates the ways in which they are recruited in Animal Flow.

Having an arsenal of simple and effective drills at the ready can be the ultimate tool for a range of clients and contexts.
In this session, Sascha provides an array of potent two-movement drills that are easy to remember and simple to put into practice. Running and cycling continue to gain popularity with people all around the world. They’re easily accessible, can be undertaken as a solo or group practice, and are available to all levels of speed or capacity.
Endurance sports are repetitive by nature meaning they only move the body’s joints through relatively small ranges. As such, Animal Flow can be a great antidote to counterbalance the demands of these repetitive motions. Its integration can also augment their recovery and performance so that runners and cyclists can extend their years in their chosen sport.
In this lecture, Fréyja dives into the demands of cycling and running and how best to incorporate Animal Flow into programming strategies.

AF makes for a fantastic standalone practice but it’s equally valuable when used as a complement to other modalities. With countless applications and benefits, the way you implement it is limited only by your imagination (and a little critical thinking).

The evidence is clear: physical activity is important for everybody, at every age. As our lifestyles have grown increasingly sedentary, we’ve begun to understand the impact on aging.
But not every generation has grown up with the same perspectives and education around its importance. So what does that mean to the individuals in mid-life and beyond? What are the lifestyle differences between Generation X, Baby Boomers and the Silent Generation that influence their approach to fitness? And, vitally, how and why should Animal Flow play a fundamental role in their training programs?
