ONLINE CONTENT: TIPS AND GUIDELINES

ONLINE CONTENT: TIPS AND GUIDELINES

Our staff frequently receives inquiries from past Level 1 workshop attendees regarding how to get their content reposted on our social media accounts and what kind of content is allowed to be posted online. We created these guidelines and tips to help support our AF family.

HOW TO GET REPOSTED

  1. Videos should be high quality and shot vertically in HD or 4K.
  2. In most cases, we look for videos that are shot up close rather than from a distance.
  3. The form and any Call Outs used in the video must be 100% accurate.

TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND WHILE POSTING

  • Tag @animalflowofficial in the video itself, not just in the caption. This will make it appear in the Tagged feed on our profile. Also, tag any local city/country accounts to indicate your location.
  • We look for good quality flows, easy-to-follow drills, and short tips for common mistakes.
  • While flashy flows can be impressive, it’s important to focus on form even if it’s a simple flow.
  • The average viewer watch time for our social media posts across platforms is 7-9 seconds, so make sure the first few seconds of your video are captivating and get right into the flow.
  • Limit the use of filters and transitions. We prefer to repost filterless videos as they tend to receive better engagement. If you do use a filter, make sure you have the original version available.

In addition to these guidelines, our team considers a many different factors when selecting reels each month, including flows of different skill levels and cool locations. If your reel is not chosen for the month, there is still a chance it may be selected in the future, as we receive hundreds of submissions per month.

If your video is chosen, we will reach out to you via Instagram from @animalflowofficial to request the video file. Sometimes, we may also request a quote from you about your AF journey or the event you are sharing.

ANIMAL FLOW COUNTRY INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS

To run an official AF COUNTRY account (e.g., @animalflowjapan, @animalflowitaly, @animalflowchileoficial, etc.), you need to obtain approval and sign a contract that agrees to our trademark stipulations. Only Regional Leaders or L3 instructors are eligible for this role. Creating a country account without our approval goes against the Instructors Agreement signed by all L1 attendees. We have exclusive contracts in most countries around the world, which grant our partners the right to approve or deny requests to run an account in their region.

Country accounts are responsible for posting upcoming workshops in the area and connecting with the Master Instructor and/or venue to coordinate co-posts for workshops. When sharing instructors on these accounts, they are already listed in the Instructor Directory. If you are not listed in the instructors yet, you can update your directory listing here.

If you decide to leave AF or no longer wish to manage your city or country account, admin access should be handed over to [email protected] until a new contract is signed for someone else to take over.

ANIMAL FLOW CITY INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS

Any L1 instructor is permitted to create an AF CITY account, but the account name must include “in” (e.g., @animalflowindenver or @animalflow_in_denver). These accounts are there to connect with local instructors and share local class information to reach more potential clients in the area. Please note that these accounts are not meant for self-promotion. Before sharing any instructors on these accounts, please ensure that they are listed in the Instructor Directory or remind them to complete their profile.

Posts on these accounts should feature 100% approved AF moves. Avoid posting mixed flows from other movement modalities as it can cause confusion regarding what Animal Flow is. However, you may demonstrate how AF can be integrated into a fitness routine such as lifting, HIIT, running, etc.

If a City account refuses to repost your content after you have introduced yourself and created your Instructor Directory profile, please contact [email protected]. These accounts are responsible for supporting the local community and should not show favoritism or exclude nearby instructors flowing with proper form. Prior to submitting a formal complaint to Shannon, please attempt to have a conversation with the account admin. Please note that some local accounts may not be active on a daily basis since they are run by volunteers, not paid employees, so be patient.

Please refrain from printing AF logo shirts or merchandise for your city unless you have received approval from [email protected] and have signed a licensing contract. Any items printed with our trademark brand require a licensing fee of $4 USD per shirt.

If you decide to leave AF or no longer wish to manage your City account, it must be passed on. City accounts can be transferred to any L1 Certified Instructor who understands and follows these rules.

GENERAL TIPS & GUIDELINES

BECOME A SOURCE OF EDUCATION TO BUILD TRUST AND CREDIBILITY

  • You are welcome to reshoot any tips we share on our page or any articles we’ve posted on The Flowist, especially if you speak another language.
  • Make sure to always use proper form and Call Outs in your flows.

SHOW YOUR PERSONALITY IN YOUR CONTENT

  • Share what you’re working on in your personal AF practice.
  • Post about any struggles you’ve faced while flowing. People love seeing where you started and where you are now-type content as it feels relatable.
  • Don’t forget to share your excitement over new achievements!
ADDITIONAL SOCIAL MEDIA TIPS
  • Use clear call to actions (CTAs) to encourage followers to join, save, DM, or comment. This leads to way more engagement and trust with your followers than them seeing you post flows daily or constantly pushing for sales.
  • Find ways to use the same info in multiple formats: video, graphics, caption, and text only options. You can get multiple posts out of one subject to use over time.
  • Add your class schedule to your captions occasionally as a call to action (CTA) encouraging followers to engage by commenting or DMing you for more info.
  • Grab followers attention within the first 3-7 seconds of the video or they’ll keep scrolling.
  • Current priority list for the algorithm: DMs, saved posts, copy links, comments, and the likes. While likes are still great, they don’t boost your account much anymore. You can use the “hide like count” feature in IG (in post, click advanced settings.)
  • Engage with followers within the first hour after posting to boost visibility. DM any tips posts to existing clients or tag them (not spammy) in the comments if you know it’d help their practice or it’s a callback to something you’ve worked on together.
  • Use AI like chat GBT (ChatOn app) to help you condense captions, think up ideas for CTAs, and other general marketing tips.
  • Use as many in app features as you can for posts: trending audio, 3-5 hashtags specific to the post, collaboration with other brands, city/country AF accounts or instructors, geo tag location, “add reminder” for classes/events.
  • Stories: add links, stickers, location, polls, questions, etc.
  • Use a platform like TapBio or LinkTree for your social media website link. This allows you to easily direct people to different parts of your website, external resources, and your other social media channels.
  • Tape multiple flows or practice sessions in one go to have a bank of content to post consistently. Quality over quantity and we’d suggest setting aside dedicated days to create content.

LICENSING AF FOR YOUR APP/ONLINE PLATFORM

WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH ANIMAL FLOW ONLINE AFTER COMPLETING THE L1 CERTIFICATION PROCESS

  • Teach Animal Flow classes and 1-1 sessions both online and in person.
  • Occasionally host live classes on social media that can remain on your page for up to 5 days before being deleted/archived. Please note that these should not be weekly classes.
  • Share drills or flows for your followers with proper form and call outs.
  • Create tutorial breakdowns of the movements permitted in the instructors agreement (Lateral Traveling Ape, Underswitch, Crab Reach, and Side Kickthrough). Other full-length tutorials cannot be shared on social media to protect our intellectual property. However, you can share quick 10-15 second tips on movements to address common mistakes. Please ensure that these are not compiled into a library with every movement. More information on licensing our tutorial library for your clients can be found in the app section below.
  • You are not allowed to manipulate our logo in any way to create your own brand using it. If you have questions about this, contact [email protected].

WHAT YOU CAN DO ONLINE WITH ANIMAL FLOW BEFORE COMPLETING THE TEST OUT

  • Feel free to share videos of yourself flowing at any time. Sharing flows online is always welcome at any stage of a Flowist’s journey.
  • Refrain from sharing tutorials or step-by-step workout/drills until you are certified.
  • If you post a mashup involving another movement modality, please tag or give credit to the other modality. This helps to avoid confusion regarding what is and isn’t Animal Flow and shows respect to the other modality involved.
  • We also encourage Flowists to use proper form and movement names when sharing their flows, so please refer to your L1 workshop resources or the AF On Demand channel.

LICENSING AF FOR YOUR APP/ONLINE PLATFORM

GUIDELINES FOR CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS WHO WANT TO INCORPORATE ANIMAL FLOW INTO THEIR APP

  • Mixed modality classes are allowed on your app, but you cannot label it as an Animal Flow class out of respect for other modalities.
  • Up to 10% of your app content can include Animal Flow without requiring a general Licensing contract. If you exceed this limit, a Licensing contract will be necessary. The fees for the contract will depend on your audience size, the amount of Animal Flow used, and the frequency of adding new Animal Flow content to your app.
  • Offering a complete Animal Flow tutorial library on your app is not permitted. Certain tutorials, such as Crab Reach, Lateral Traveling Ape, Underswitch, and Side Kickthrough, can be used without a licensing fee as they are allowed for all Certified Instructors to publicly post, per the instructors agreement. If you wish to use additional movements in your app classes/flows and believe your clients would benefit from having those tutorials readily available, a customized Tutorial Licensing Agreement can be discussed with [email protected]. This would require a call and more details for our Legal Team to review. In the meantime, you can provide movement tips in your classes, similar to in-person classes, to ensure participants understand the moves without needing a Tutorial Licensing Agreement.
  • HIIT classes on the app that incorporate Animal Flow moves must use the correct names and forms for the movements (e.g., Side Kickthrough, Underswitch, Front Step, etc.).

For more detailed guidelines and our code of conduct, please refer to the instructors agreement you signed after completing your L1 certification. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining the standards and integrity of the Animal Flow program!
