To Animal Flow creator, Mike Fitch, the origin of International Animal Flow Day (IAFD) is just as special as the day itself.

“It’s indicative of how we’ve always run Animal Flow,” said Mike. “It’s just been a case of, ‘Yeah, let’s just do this thing; don’t overthink it, let’s make it happen.’”

Having that level of freedom to make cool things happen is part of the secret sauce of Animal Flow. “One of our instructors asked if we have an International Animal Flow Day and we just decided, ‘Why not?!’” Mike explained. “Whatever we can imagine, we can make happen.”

What is International Animal Flow Day?

On August 28th 2022, thousands of Animal Flow enthusiasts from almost 40 countries will gather together in groups, in real life or online, to celebrate the second annual IAFD.

The event is an opportunity for both new and experienced Flowists to come together to share their love of movement and community.

At the inaugural event in 2021, more than 100 Certified Instructors and Regional Leaders hosted groups at personal training facilities, yoga studios, dance schools, parks, beaches and gymnasiums in over 35 countries.

“This year we’ll have so many Jams all over the world and, for one 24-hour period, it will be the most people Flowing in Animal Flow history,” said Mike.

With more than 130 Jam Leaders already confirmed to host groups, we’ve far surpassed our 2022 goal of 100 Jams around the world.

Connecting and growing through movement

One of the four pillars of Animal Flow is Community; it’s a value that runs deep. Wherever you go in the world where another Flowist can be found, you’re also finding a friend. IAFD is a celebration of this kinship and a reminder that the language of Animal Flow is universal, even if our languages of origin are not.

Join an International Animal Flow Day Jam

Whether you’re an experienced Flowist or you’re new to the practice, we invite you to join us. Participation in a Jam is free and all ages and abilities are welcome! Your local Jam Leader will guide your group through a pre-designed Flow that is suitable for all levels which you’ll then practice and perform as a group.
